The four Zeleznik sisters—Betty, Helen, Manya, and Isabelle—and father George reminisce and tell family stories during their holiday get-togethers. Part Two, the chronology, allows the reader to connect the historical details of the family story to real-life documents and images, including Polish birth and marriage records, immigration and citizenship papers, property records, U.S. birth and marriage records, church records, and many family photos. Follow the Zelezniks through local newspaper articles, high school yearbooks, and more as the events of their lives play out in the towns, churches, and communities most important to them. 

The third section of the book details the Zeleznik and Makaryk family trees, beginning with George and Polly’s great-grandparents in Poland, and including both those siblings the couple left behind in Poland as well as those who, like George and Polly, immigrated to America in the early 1900s. The trees capture the children of these siblings, George and Polly’s four daughters, and their daughters’ families, down to the great-great-grandchildren.  

In addition to the historical and warm story content of this 400-page book, the design is meant to capture and hold the attention of the reader with its colorful accents and details.
